A couple friends suggested a very cool comic (thanks James C. and Kevin C.) called The Walking Dead published by Image Comics. It's written by Robert Kirkman. I wasn't familiar with his work but I am now. James was kind enough to lend me his trade paperbacks to catch up with the series which is now coming to TV in October on AMC. I read all 11 volumes in a week. It's very well-written and the artwork, drawn by Charlie Adlard, is fit for the story-telling. The zombies are the backdrop for a post-apocalyptic world over run with them. The spin on this zombie tale is the main danger are not the zombies only, but the human act of survival. Want to survive? It's you or him or her or them. Children aren't exactly safe either.
I normally don't get too hyped up over anything these days (mainly because so much is so bad), but I definitely recommend this title. I would suggest reading the TPBs unless your a fanboy and want to pay $200 for #1 issue.
The short video below is a fully-animated motion comic of the first issue.

Enjoy! I certainly did!
